The Snow Angel and the Black Dragon – A Holiday Story & Nondual Parable

nondual parable

Hey everyone- I’ve always been a fan of Paulo Coelho and Richard Bach- Here’s my best attempt at their brand of spiritual parable writing…Enjoy:

Long ago,  nestled in a pastoral pocket of the crag peaked Scandinavian mountains, there was a tiny village called Lucencia.   Lucencia was home to the guardian spirits of balance, the snow angel and the black dragon. The snow angels’ purpose was to bring gifts of love, light, wellness and joy.  The black dragons’ purpose was to bring gifts of shadow, sorrow, pain and loss. For eons the dual gifts of these guardian spirits blended in peaceful unity in the hearts of the Lucencia villagers.

One year, for whatever strange reason, the villagers decided to play hide and seek with the black dragon, and they played it very well; too well in fact: They enjoyed the black dragons’ absence and soon the game turned deadly serious. The black dragon was banished forever.  After a time the villagers completely forgot about the black dragon and anything reminiscent of him was quickly hushed, dismissed, or denied.

What is Blue Collar Enlightenment?

What is Blue Collar Enlightenment?

What exactly do I mean by Blue Collar Enlightenment?:

You: At the heart of what I mean by blue collar enlightenment is that you, probably like me are no one super special. You aren’t a monk, a mystic, a saint, a reincarnated Llama, a religious leader, a genius, a celebrity, a world leader, a pulitzer prize winning Phd, a lotto winner, a media mogul or even a member of the 1%. You’re an average Joe or Jane- with a family, mortgage, job, two cars, a dog and a ridiculously expensive cell phone bill. (You get the idea) Notice that I said no one super special. I do think, relative to spirituality and religion in general, you are special or more accurately unique, if only because so few human beings are genuinely interested in these matters.

Stinky Spiritual Awakening Happiness Parable – Part 1

Hey everybody- something different. This is spiritual parable from my book 21 Days. I think the principles of supreme-advaita-non-dual-awakening-realization can be best explained by farting monkeys, unhappy elephants, and over-intellectual butterflies.

This story has made people laugh, cry, and think long – about finding real happiness. It would be an awesome animated cartoon: Please tell your uncle who works at PIXAR about it. Please tell your DIRECTOR friend Steven Spielburg about it. Please tell your ACTOR cousin Jude Law or Jack Black about it. Please tell the SCREENWRITER who lives down the block about it. Please tell that children’s book PUBLISHER who takes his kids to the same school as you do about it. Okay well, at the very least, post this blog on your FACEBOOK page.

PART 1. Enjoy…

One day, Elephant woke up terribly unhappy. This was very strange for Elephant because he was usually a jolly soul; not today, however. Today, he was unhappy, and he couldn’t figure out why. He’d had plenty to eat recently. He wasn’t sick. No one was angry with him. No one he knew had made him sad. Even Hyena, who sometimes irritated him, hadn’t upset him. All he knew was that his heart was heavy and something, from his head to his toes, just didn’t feel right. He decided to ask for help from his friends Monkey and Butterfly.

Stinky Spiritual Awakening Happiness Parable – Part 2

Hey everybody- something different. This is spiritual parable from my book 21 Days. I think the principles of supreme-advaita-non-dual-awakening-realization can be best explained by farting monkeys, unhappy elephants, and over-intellectual butterflies.

PART 2. Enjoy…

The sun rose to its zenith, high in the clear mountain air. It shone down upon the three travelers as they plodded along the dry rock- and dirt-strewn path. Elephant swung his big trunk back and forth, assisting the momentum of his large torso and legs as he walked. Monkey and Butterfly were sleepy eyed as they jostled upon Elephant’s big back. It was almost high noon.

Spiritual awakening, living, eating, breathing, sleeping, and dish washing

I’m going to write a few posts that are a bit more awakened-feeling oriented- more like my book- than this silly blog. Tired of ranting. Tired of trying to make mountains out of molehills. Tired of enlighten-tainment. Nothing wrong with any of these things. Just need a change, to keep on my toes. I for one, easily succumb to the malodorous smell of mediocre repetition. Sarcasm gets old. In the end, I know (first hand) that enlightenment is a very serious business. I choose this format (p.i.e.) because there are just way too many overly serious websites about the subject already.

So here’s what’s happenin’ in this post: Much like my book, 21 Days- A Guide for Spiritual Beginners, I’m going to give you a minute by minute microscopic look at the day in the life of a schmuck who realized the truth of things. Enjoy…

Water- A spiritual awakening allegory

You are water.

Frozen. Cold. Solid. Hard.

All of the other water you have ever known, your whole life, has also been frozen, cold, solid, and hard.

One day, by chance, you are told about a type of water known to be fluid, shapeless, soft, and warm. You can hardly believe it. You scoff.

Years go by.

Then, by some strange twist of fate or grace, you run into some of this water.

Fluid, shapeless, soft, and warm.

You barely recognize it … as water that is… but somehow, you know … it is.

Harry Potter, Courage, Summer Solstice and 2012 – Spiritual Awakening anybody?

It’s no coincidence that there are seven Harry Potter books (chakras). It’s no coincidence that the series is a magical (metaphysical) wonderland. It’s no coincidence that Voldermort and Harry (you and YOU) are each a part of the other. …that Harry is guided by a litany of great teachers, sages, and advisers. …that Harry has to learn about and train to master the magical arts. …that Harry Potter is mega-popular series of books and films. Of course it is.

The reason is because, at its’ heart, Harry Potter is about YOU. The true you waiting to be discovered, recognized, and realized. Harry Potter is about your grand return adventure home. The home where all the separate, unloved, unseen, neglected and lost parts of YOU come together and celebrate their return, rejoice in their integration, and laugh at the whole cosmic joke process.
